Text is now visible in designer text input controls

Text entered in a TextField or TextArea through the Inspector is not visible in the window designer until an explicit text colour is selected. The configured text should be visible in the designer using the preview theme default when no text colour is set. The problem is reproducible on macOS and Windows and affects Studio designer rendering, not the runtime controls.
